Profile

Sherwood is one of Brisbane's oldest and most beautiful suburbs. It is bounded by some magnificent reaches of the Brisbane River. Located on the southern side of the Brisbane River, Sherwood has benefited from the enormous buyer interest in near and inner city living.

Residents also have easy access to Indooroopilly Shoppingtown and the University of Queensland. Public transport is good; Sherwood has its own railway station central to the suburb and BCC buses also service the area. Like its neighbours, Corinda and Graceville, Sherwood is a leafy quiet residential suburb with some homes located alongside the Brisbane River. One of the city's older suburbs, Sherwood has fine old Queenslanders and post-war homes and many opportunities for renovation.

There is a thriving small business and commercial centre on one side of the railway line, including a Woolworths supermarket. There is also good access to nearby retail areas in Graceville and Corinda. The suburb is serviced by a number of churches, primary schools, and sporting fields. The well-established Sherwood Forest Park provides ample open space. There are boardwalks on the riverside, picnic facilities and a beautiful lagoon.

According to the 2006 Census there were 4,763 people living in the suburb with a median age of 36. The median individual income was $653 per week. Of all occupied private dwellings 64.1% were either fully owned or being purchased; 31.5% were being rented.
