Profile

One of Brisbane’s most charming riverside suburbs, Tennyson boasts an idyllic leafy atmosphere and a row of some of Brisbane’s most expensive riverside real estate along King Arthur Terrace.

This is not at all reflected in the suburb’s median house price, as it has some properties bordering onto an industrial estate that are modestly priced.

The suburb is very small but, despite its size, Tennyson boasts its own railway station with limited services to the City (Corinda and Yeronga are the next stops on the line). It also has good bus services in two directions – towards Indooroopilly Shoppingtown and the CBD via Fairfield.

The commercial element in Tennyson is restricted. The old electricity power station, positioned in a prime location on the Brisbane River, is being redeveloped into an exciting precinct including a world standard state tennis centre. There will be a ferry terminal servicing this new precinct.

Tennyson is predominantly a quiet residential suburb relying on its neighbours, Graceville and Indooroopilly, for its shopping and entertainment facilities. However, the new tennis centre will have an impact on the area.
